Overview

CNC controller for GRBL

Ultimate CNC is a program designed for enthusiasts who have a Grbl controlled CNC machine. It allows movement of a CNC machine axes manually or automatically by running a program in language Gcode.
No big computer is required, all control of machine is done by GRBL therefore, you can use the mini computers that exist nowadays.
Full compatibility with official Grbl releases.

Main features

  • Monitoring your CNC machine with Grbl.
  • Visualizes g-code and real time traces in 3D
  • Manual control using keyboard.
  • Autoleveling Z-axis.
  • Duration estimates.
  • Cross platform, Windows, OSX and Linux.

Autoleveling

Allows you to auto-level your PCB or other conductive surface before milling. Most raw PCB boards or other surfaces have a slight warpage. UltimateCNC lets you probe the warpage and then it auto-scales your Gcode to match the warpage so you get very clean/predictable z-positions in your milling job.

Autoleveling

Import images

Apart from standard g-code, you can also import images in various formats. These files are converted to a gcode program and can be processed for GRBL.

  • PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP.
  • STL.
  • SVG.
  • The tool position / compensation can be selected (center, inside, outside).

Support G-code extended

The Ultimate CNC support the same G-codes that Grbl implement.
But the cnc software add more like:

  • Tool Change: M6
  • Drilling Cycle: G81
  • Drilling Cycle, Dwell: G82

Simple CAD

Geometric figures can be created and parameterized and automatically are converted to G code:

  • Drills, rectangles, circle, triangle, ...
  • The tool position / compensation can be selected (center, inside, outside).

What is Grbl ?

Grbl is a free, open source, high performance software for controlling the motion of machines that move, that make things, or that make things move, and will run on a straight Arduino. If the maker movement was an industry, Grbl would be the industry standard.
Most open source 3D printers have Grbl in their hearts. It has been adapted for use in hundreds of projects including laser cutters, automatic hand writers, hole drillers, graffiti painters and oddball drawing machines. Due to its performance, simplicity and frugal hardware requirements Grbl has grown into a little open source phenomenon.
In 2009, Simen Svale Skogsrud (http://bengler.no/grbl) graced the open-source community by writing and releasing the early versions of Grbl to everyone (inspired by the Arduino G-code Interpreter by Mike Ellery). Since 2011, Grbl is pushing ahead as a community-driven open-source project under the pragmatic leadership of Sungeun Sonny Jeon Ph.D. (@chamnit).
